Woman seriously injured in collision with police van

A WOMAN has been seriously injured in a collision with a police van in North Devon.
The incident involved a marked police van and a woman pedestrian on New Road in Bideford around 7.20pm last night, Wednesday.
The 28-year-old woman injured in the collision sustained a life threatening head injury. Initially she was taken to North Devon District Hospital but later air lifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.
The driver of the police vehicle, a serving officer, was uninjured.
The van was on routine patrol and travelling in the direction of Torrington when the accident happened.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been made aware.
