A MAN is in a critical condition after apparently falling from a moving vehicle in Exeter.
The 49-year-old man, from Somerset, who was in the area with friends at a darts event, suffered serious head injuries after falling from a moving vehicle, possibly a taxi, at Westpoint last night (Thursday).
The incident happened around 10.25pm as the man got into what is thought to be a taxi - described as a black, medium-sized people carrier with a sliding side door, possibly a Mercedes Vito.
The driver refused to take him and the vehicle made off at speed with the victim still inside and the side door open.
The man fell out of the vehicle and sustained serious head injuries. He remains in a critical condition at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident and for information to help identify the vehicle and driver involved.
The driver is described as a white man, aged 50 to 60, of small to medium build and wearing a black suit type jacket.
To help police, call 101, quoting log number 839 of 280213.
