TAUNTON Deane MP Jeremy Browne has visited William Hill bookies to see what the company does to help people addicted to gambling.
The visit follows a County Gazette feature last week in which a former head teacher warned of the dangers of too many betting adverts on TV.
Mr Browne said: “Gambling for most people is a chance to have a bit of fun by placing a bet on an event, like the Grand National or the FA Cup Final.
“But for some people gambling has completely taken over their lives and betting has become an addiction.
“At a time when concerns have been raised with me about gambling and betting adverts on TV, it was interesting to find out about the measures being put in place by betting shops like William Hill to tackle problem gambling.”
