WORKERS were threatened with a hammer and a member of staff was injured by shattered glass in an armed robbery at a jewellery store in Exeter this morning (Monday). The incident occurred at 9am at the branch of Ernest Jones in High Street.

It is believed three men in black clothing smashed the door, threatened staff with a hammer and stole boxes of Rolex watches. Thieves ran off in the direction of John Lewis and got into a black Jaguar. Following an extensive search of the area, police located the vehicle in Sainsbury’s car park in Alphington.

During the incident one member of staff was injured by glass.
