Conference aims to tackle rural isolation in Mid Devon
11:10am Monday 11th February 2013 in News By Mid Devon Star Reporter
The aim of the event is to tackle the issue of isolation among elderly and vulnerable people in rural areas
ADDRESSING the issue of rural isolation will be the focus of a conference in Crediton next month.
Led by Crediton Devon Senior Voice with support from Mid Devon District Council, Crediton Community Transport and Age UK, the conference will cover the elements that contribute towards isolation including transport, IT, health, social interaction and access to services.
Organisers are also interested to gather information on the number of people in rural areas suffering from the early stages of dementia who may be helped and are particularly targeting the event at parish councils, residents' groups and service providers, who can spread awareness of the services on offer among their communities.
The conference will take place from 10am - 3pm on Friday, March 22, at Crediton Town Hall.
To book a place at a price of £5, including a buffet lunch, call 01884 255 369 or email enquiries@ageuktiverton.org.uk
