Groups and charities working with carers in Devon are invited to apply for funding from The Co-operative.

The new pot of money is being offered by The Co-operative’s Membership Team in the local area to provide tangible support for carers during a year-long fundraising drive for Carers Trust.

The Co-operative is offering the funds to provide a day out or an activity for carers and those they look after. There are two rounds in the application process in order to provide support throughout the year.

Zoe Bartlett-Casey, Membership Officer for The Co-operative and organiser of the funding scheme, said: “Carers Trust received an overwhelming number of votes to become our charity of the year, which shows that our members clearly feel strongly about supporting people who give up much of their time to look after a friend or family member.

“While all the fantastic fundraising work is going on across our business, we were keen to offer a tangible benefit to this group of people to make a difference right away. Groups involved with carers can apply for up to £400 to fund days out or activities for carers and those they care for if appropriate.”
