A Plymouth man is safely back in the city after being rescued from the hostage crisis at
Devon and Cornwall police say that 53-year-old Allen McCloud is back in the UK, with his family "very relieved" that he is safe.
The hostage crisis came after an attack on a remote gas plant at Tigantourine, in the Sahara desert last week.
A bid to free the hostages by the Algerian military saw at least 32 Islamist kidnappers and 23 hostages killed, with fears this figure will rise.
Three British people have been confirmed dead with three more were believed to have died.
