A BLOCK of flats was evacuated after a wall collapsed in Hele Road, Exeter, at around 8pm last night.
Police were first on scene and drafted in firefighters amid fears people might be trapped underneath the rubble.
Three fire crews, a heavy rescue vehicle and a search and rescue team, with a dog, were sent.
Ten metres of wall had collapsed.
Crews were working to remove the rubble when they were advised by a surveyor to withdraw as the remaining wall appeared unsafe.
People from a neighbouring block of flats were also evacuated.
The search dog found no scent of anybody trapped in the rubble.
Police and the local council are now dealing with the incident.
