Police in Torquay have issued an image of a man they wish to trace in connection with a high value theft by deception in the bay.

The man is described as being in his late 20’s to early 30’s and of slim build. He had short dark hair and wore a navy blue brimmed hat, large white waterproof coat with black sleeves, a white football shirt and dark shorts. He spoke with a Liverpool accent.

The man collected a painting valued at almost £6,000 from a gallery in the town on October 26. The painting had been bought using a fraudulent credit card.

A copy of the painting, the Moulin Rouge in Paris, is attached along with an image of the man police would like to speak to.

Anyone who recognises the person in the picture or who knows where the painting might be is asked to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 quoting crime reference FT/12/7669
