ADULT Learners Week is the UK's largest and longest running learning campaign, and it's coming Devon County Council libraries again, starting on Saturday.

The annual event encourages thousands of adults whatever their age or background to give learning a go - either to catch up with new skills, or to learn for fun.

Executive member for culture, councillor Sheila Hobden, said: "Adult Learners' Week is all about celebrating and raising awareness of the fact that we all learn everyday often without realising it.

"And that taking the next step and going on a course needn't be like going back to school.

"Whether our library users want to gain new skills or qualifications to get a promotion at work, or want to learn more about a subject they're interested in, Devon County Council libraries are an excellent first stop to finding out what's available."

There is a county wide quiz that can be obtained from all local libraries either as a paper copy or can be downloaded from http://www.devon.gov.uk/alw2008.htm.

The first prize is £50 worth of IT software vouchers. The closing date for the completed quiz entries is Friday, June 6.
