FIRE crews from Braunton, Bideford and Barnstaple were called to a bungalow on fire at Tawstock in Barnstaple this morning (Thursday).
Crews were called at 12.30am where the roof of the property was well alight.
The roof space was completely destroyed with 50% of the ground floor severly damaged by fire, heat and smoke.
One man was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation with another treated for slight smoke inhalation by fire crews on the scene.
The fire was extinguished using one aerial monitor via the aerial ladder platform, two main jets, two hose reel jets and four breathing apparatus wearers.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
The road at the A377 was closed during the incident and re-opened by highways at 4.48am.
