Cut out stencil graffiti
An exmaple of some of the stencil graffiti
An exmaple of some of the stencil graffiti

Graffiti is a recognised blot on the urban landscape in the city, spoiling the city and costing communities in cleaning up charges.

Police in Plymouth have noticed an increase in the use of stencils to damage buildings. The stencil is prepared in advance and the offender is able to quickly spray paint over the top.

Increases in such crimes have been recorded in the Mutley and Greenbank areas and officers ask that local residents be prepared to contact the police, using 999 if the offenders are there or nearby.

DC Wayne Marshall said: "The offenders may consider this a form of art but the householders and businesses whose buildings they deface take a different stance. This is criminal damage and we'd ask that anyone with information contact us on 08452 777 444 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
