MP Since - 1992 Majority - 11,051 Born - 04/12/1946, Married, 2 sons.

Education - Westwood Girl's Grammar School, Reading & Bournemouth Colleges of Technology.

Previous Occupation - Adult Education Teacher (1968-74), Auxiliary Nurse (1976-77), Consultant on Manufacturing Industry (1977-85), Business Consultant specialising in corporate communications and training (1985-94), Director of the Small Business Bureau (1985-94), Chairman Women into Business (1988-92).

Personal Overview - Conservative ex-Minister who had the misfortune to be an Agriculture Spokesman when the BSE crisis came to light. Has career interest and experience in manufacturing industry and small business. She was initially retained by William Hague as a Spokesman in the Opposition team. After briefly returning to the Back Benches for family reasons, she advanced to become Shadow Leader of the House of Commons in the last Parliament, before being removed in 2001 and being made a party Vice Chairman, a role she has retained.
