George Clooney and Hugh Laurie’s appearance in a very funny Jimmy Kimmel Live! skit delighted the studio audience for the popular late night US TV show.

The heavyweight A-listers proved they were game for a laugh when they lampooned the medical roles that had first made them household names in America.

George’s role as Doctor Doug Ross in ER catapulted him to international fame.

Broadcast to great acclaim and success on both sides of the Atlantic, the show ran for 15 seasons. Although the Ocean’s Eleven star left in 1999, he made a couple of special returns.

In the Kimmel sketch, the Oscar-winner showed up for a supposed ER reunion dressed in a white coat, while genial host Jimmy was laid up in a hospital bed.

George, who was on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote his latest Coen Brothers collaboration Hail, Caesar!, asked for the whereabouts of ER co-stars including Julianna Margulies and Noah Wyle.

As it turned out, none of them could make it. But Jimmy arranged for someone else to assist the good Dr Ross – Hugh Laurie.

To huge cheers, the British comedian entered the room as Doctor Gregory House, complete with the cane and American accent that were the hallmarks of his role as the cantankerous, limping medic.

With help at hand, ailing patient Jimmy collapsed, necessitating CPR.

“Dr Ross this isn’t working, you got to give him the Rapper’s Delight!” Hugh cried as George began rapping the famous lyrics from Sugarhill Gang’s 1979 classic.

“I said a hip hop the hippie the hippie to the hip hip hop, a you don’t stop, the rock it to the bang bang boogie say up jumped the boogie!” George rapped, pumping Jimmy’s heart to the rhythm as Hugh danced in the background.

The Brit, who was on the show to promote new BBC spy drama The Night Manager, won two Golden Globes and two SAG Awards for playing the title role in House which ran for eight seasons from 2004-2012.

Hail, Caesar! is released in the UK on February 26.
