Channing Tatum has said he will be open about his stripping history to his daughter.

The Magic Mike star, who is dad to two-year-old daughter Everly with wife Jenna Dewan Tatum, said he is not ashamed of his past.

“I’m editing nothing. Life is life. I can’t change a thing,” he said.

The 35-year-old actor, who reprises his role as a stripper in Magic Mike XXL, explained: “I was a stripper and she’s going to grow up and I’m not going to keep it from her.

“She’s going to grow up and know it was what it was and I had her on set. By the time she’s old enough to watch Magic Mike, there are going to be holograms. You can’t keep kids from anything.”

The sequel sees Mike and the guys – played by Joe Manganiello, Adam Rodriguez, Matt Bomer and Kevin Nash – hitting the road to attend a stripper convention. They are joined by newcomers Jada Pinkett Smith, Amber Heard and Elizabeth Banks.

“We read the message boards and they were like, ‘Less story, more dancing’ so we take direction well,” Channing teased.

“We wanted the movie to be a tease in itself. We didn’t want to get so overhanded with all the gender stuff, with everybody’s story. It’s a dancer stripper movie, we’re not going to try and make it like Laurence Of Arabia or something.

“We didn’t want there to be no story either. It’s a fine needle to thread, without being pretentious but to give something they didn’t know they were getting.”

Channing, who co-wrote and co-produced the second film, also revealed he isn’t sure if there would be more Magic Mike sequels.

“We’re going to do about 40,” he joked, adding: “Nah, I don’t know whether there’s going to be a third one to be honest. If you’ve got an idea, write it man, I don’t want to write the third one.”

Magic Mike XXL is released in cinemas on Friday, July 3.
