Big Bristol promotion day for Eliza

TWENTY-ONE year old Eliza Doolittle is making three appearances in Bristol on February 12 before the release of her debut single the following month.

She will be performing to pupils at Bristol Metropolitan College and Fairfield High before headlining in the evening at the Bristol Louisiana.

Eliza’s single ‘Skinny Genes’ is released on March 29 on Parlophone. With mischievous lyrics about an irritating but sexy boy - “It’s a bit of a naughty sex song, basically,” says Eliza - ‘Skinny Genes’ is incredibly catchy, whip-smart pop, with a whistling refrain.

Born and raised in north London, Eliza Doolittle - childhood nickname that stuck - has been writing songs since she was 12, and is talented enough to have landed a publishing deal by the time she was 16.

A diehard fan of classic pop in all its different guises, from The Beach Boys to Stevie Wonder, it’s perhaps unsurprising that Eliza’s music manages to mine sounds from the ’60s and 70s while managing to sound indisputably fresh.

“My music is not a particular genre, says Eliza. “It’s not bubblegum or cheese. It’s just good songs, pop songs. It’s just my songs.”

The debut album from Eliza Doolittle will be released this summer.

The Brooklyn duo of Nate Smith and Pete Cafarella, aka Shy Child, are getting ready to reclaim their rightful places on the electro pop throne with their sparkling new gem of an album, ‘Liquid Love’ (released March 15).

And to celebrate, they’re embarking on their first proper UK tour in years – including a visit to the Thekla in Bristol on February 28.

Following on from a series of low-key club dates in February, they will be showcasing songs from ‘Liquid Love’ and inevitably burning up dancefloors through the UK with a brand new, revamped live lineup.

With their imminent single ‘Disconnected’ already finding favour with the tastemaking likes of Fearne Cotton and Nick Grimshaw (and the brilliant accompanying video also being playlisted by the likes of MTV and premiering on Pitchfork), this is destined to be the year of Shy Child all over again.

Due to amazing early support, Parlophone has announced the early release of ‘Pass Out’, a mesmeric pop song with street – smart, savvy lyrics and the fearless debut single from London artist, Tinie Tempah.

You can find out what all the fuss is about at the O2 Academy in Bristol on February 18 The Sun - Bizarre tour dates 2010 is shaping up to be a phenomenal year for Tinie. ‘Pass Out’ hits the streets on March 1 and has received fantastic early playlist support from 1Xtra and Kiss along with strong spot plays on Radio 1 (including a ‘Record Of The Week’ with Nick Grimshaw.)
