A SCHOOL has produced a free factsheet to help Devon parents who have children with Special Needs.

Appleford School, near Shrewton, is a co-educational day and boarding school for Dyslexic children aged 7-13.

The School's founder, educational psychologist Dr Peter Gardner, says the parents of many Devon dyslexic children are unaware of their rights when it comes to educational provision.

One in ten children are thought to have dyslexia - with a higher proportion among boys than girls. The factsheet is being produced in advance of national Dyslexia Awareness Week, which runs from November 5-11 this year.

Dr Gardner says: "Parents with a special needs child are often unaware of the extent of help their child needs and how that help can be accessed. This factsheet aims to provide the information."
